Open source for digital sovereignty: reducing dependency, regaining control

10/01/2026 | 16h30 -> 16h50 | Solutions demos area
Forum: Digital Transformation
Keywords: OPEN SOURCE (IT SOLUTIONS & SOFTWARE), COLLABORATIVE, INTRANET

Digital sovereignty is no longer just a policy topic. It is becoming a concrete operational challenge for IT leaders. Organizations rely heavily on large proprietary platforms and non-European cloud providers. Questions around control, resilience, Big Tech alternatives, and long-term dependency are now central to infrastructure and collaboration decisions.

This session explores how open-source technologies help organizations take back control of collaboration and knowledge management platforms. It also examines how to improve resilience and reduce dependency risks. Drawing on practical experience and real-world examples, including migration scenarios from Atlassian Confluence to XWiki, attendees will discover concrete approaches to building more sustainable and sovereign IT environments.

Attendees will leave with a clearer view of the key challenges, lessons learned, and operational considerations involved in adopting open source in enterprise environments
